The Ripa was originally a typical Tuscan farm house, but was restructured in 1976 by a woman from Milan who had fallen in love with the countryside and the view of the Certosa, Carthusian monastery of Florence. Adjoining the Ripa is another farm house, once used by the peasants who worked the land for the Mori Family, but which is now occupied by la signora Rosanna Garuglieri, who have for centuries worked the land in that area. If guests staying at the Ripa would like to have house-cleaning services, or the occasional lunch or supper, la signora Rosanna is avaliable. She is an excellent cook and specializes in country Tuscan cooking.

Some 200 meters below the Ripa is the small village of Bottai where there are some bars, newspaper stand and restaurants. From here, if you don’t have a car, or simply wish to take public transportation, you can easily catch the bus to Florence, arriving there in approximately 15 minutes.

With regard to what’s on la signora Rosanna’s menu, for 25 euros (inclusive a bottle of wine) per person, you can choose from the following specialities.
